This workshop will help you:

  • Demystify “networking” by breaking it down to specific steps PhD's can take to build relationships and advance their careers
  • Understand the importance of networking for PhD careers
  • Learn skills specific to networking as a doctoral-level person in academic and industry environments
  • Understand some of the common networking challenges faced by graduate students and postdocs, and how to deal with them
  • Learn networking strategies that will feel do-able whether you're an introvert or an extrovert

Erica Marchand, PhD, Licensed Psychologist, Project Scientist, UCLA Dr. Erica Marchand is a licensed psychologist specializing in relationships. She earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Oregon and completed three years of postdoctoral training in the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research at UCLA. She has worked with numerous people – introverts and extroverts, socially anxious and socially confident alike -- to improve their relationships and move toward valued goals.
